At last night’s 2nd Annual Save the Children Illumination Gala in New York City, Jennifer Garner not only showed off her toned physique in a body-hugging Calvin Klein LBD, dazzling Bulgari jewels, and Charlotte Olympia pumps, but she also revealed to InStyle just how she stays in shape during the holiday season.
Her secret? Sticking to a normal routine and getting in exercise whenever she can. “I just try to stay consistent,” the actress, who sees trainer Valerie Waters as often as possible during this busy time of year, says. “If I’m going to a party, I know not to go crazy because I’m still going to get up and workout no matter what. I think that’s what it’s about.” However, the star does recognize that sometimes life gets in the way—especially with three kids. “You can’t be perfect,” she shares.
Garner—who works closely with Save the Children and was featured as one of InStyle’s Shining Stars in our December issue for her dedication to the cause—hosted the benefit at the famed Plaza Hotel, where her husband Ben Affleck was one of the honorees. The gala benefited the the organization’s efforts to give children in more than 120 countries (including the United States) a stronger start in life by providing medical aid, food, water, and educational tools.
