Ben Affleck on Jennifer Garner: My Kids ‘Have the Greatest Mom in the World’

People shared these quotes by Ben Affleck about Jennifer and their children.

Ben Affleck may be a two-time Oscar winner, but the actor says his greatest accomplishments are his three children.

Affleck, 44, opened up about his career and personal life while participating in a Times Talk at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts on Monday night. When asked what the most defining moment of his life has been, the actor didn’t hesitate with his answer.

“In my career or otherwise, it is the birth of my children,” he said. “The entrance of my children into the world.”

Affleck also gave a sweet shout-out to his ex Jennifer Garner, calling her the “world’s greatest mom.”

“It’s a joy to hang out with them,” he added. “I think the meaning of life is to make good people.”

The actor was there promoting his new film Live By Night, which he wrote, directed and stars in. Affleck called the passion project a “love letter to the ’30s and ’40s gangster movies,” and described it as “the most formal presented movie I ever made.”

Jennifer Garner on Teaching Her Kids to Be ‘Citizens of the World’

Jennifer talks with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Save the Children Illumination Gala on Tuesday night about raising her children to have charitable spirits and about making her children her priority.

Jennifer Garner is working as hard as she can to make sure her children become “citizens of the world.”

ET’s Denny Directo caught up with the 44-year-old actress at the fourth annual Save the Children Illumination Gala in New York City on Tuesday, where she opened up about teaching her children the importance of charity.

“I’ve worked with Save [the Children] for the last eight years, and my whole heart is here,” she gushed. “So obviously having all these people show up, it’s the only time in my life where I see people with cameras and think, ‘Thank you. I’m so glad you came. Thanks for coming.'”

While the Miracles From Heaven star got all dressed up for the evening, it’s the cause that’s most important to her, and that charitable spirit is something she’s trying to instill in her three kids with ex Ben Affleck: 10-year-old Violet, 7-year-old Seraphina and 4-year-old Samuel.

“It’s so important that you model for your kids how to be a citizen of the world, and I think that’s the very best thing you can do,” she shared, adding that she and Affleck each have special causes that they try to teach their children about.

“That’s really important at home, to make sure that our kids know that we both have causes that we care so much about… that we dedicate time, resources, and our energy toward making our own little slice of the world a little bit better,” she added.

Though Garner and Affleck separated last year, they’ve continued worked together to raise their kids.

ET caught up with Affleck earlier this month, where he gushed about making his children a priority — even when it comes to his on-set trailer must-haves, which include the kids’ schoolwork and art projects.

“[It’s] mostly stuff from my kids,” he said. “It’s the only personal stuff I have — the drawings and art. It’s a good place to hang up the latest artwork to come out of school.”

“We do our best,” he added of how he and Garner have learned how to co-parent. “We try our best.”

Jennifer Garner opens up on TODAY Show about life with Ben Affleck and kids

This morning Jennifer did an interview on the Today show and opened up about how she and Ben share the responsibility of their children.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have three beautiful children together, and while the past year has seen big changes for mom and dad, one thing hasn’t changed at all — they put the needs of their kids first.

As the busy actress told TODAY’s Natalie Morales, ‘You don’t have a choice. I mean, it has to be.”

That simple fact of parenting just makes sense to Garner, who, since her breakup with Affleck, has embraced her family’s new normal.

“We are definitely a modern family,” she said with a smile. “We’re doing really well.”

In fact, earlier this year, Garner and Affleck teamed up for a vacation with the kids in Europe.

“Ben was working in London, on ‘Justice League,’ and I felt like, ‘Well, the kids should have that experience,'” she said. “And he and I are great friends, and we just all went en masse.”

Prioritizing what’s best for their children is nothing new for Garner — neither is fighting for it.

In 2013, she fought alongside fellow stars, including Halle Berry, for California legislation that would protect her children and other celebrity kids from intrusive and possibly dangerous paparazzi encounters. She won that battle, and she’s already seeing the benefits.

In the past, Garner’s youngest son, 4-year-old Samuel, urged her to shoo the paparazzi away. “Mom, go out and tell them your son does not like it,'” she recalled him saying.

But now? “It is so much better,” she said. “I really do thank all of the legislators who saw the wisdom in not allowing paparazzi to lie in wait outside of your school, outside of doctors’ offices, pediatricians’ offices, outside of your, you know, your home.”

Ben Talks About Jennifer & the Vanity Fair Article

Ben is doing press for his upcoming film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and during an interview with the New York Times, Ben finally spoke out about both the Vanity Fair article and their divorce. Below are the relative part from the interview.

The comic-book blockbuster has shone an intense spotlight on Mr. Affleck following the announcement that he and his wife, Jennifer Garner, plan to divorce after a 10-year marriage. Amid a torrent of tabloid reports alleging bad behavior, infidelity and questionable tattoos, he finds himself at maximum attention at an especially humbling moment.

“It never seems like a great time to have your privacy invaded,” Mr. Affleck said warily. “Obviously this is a particularly hard time.”

Then, the day before this interview was to take place, he was hit with a bombshell. Vanity Fair magazine published an interview with Ms. Garner, in which she discussed the dissolution of their relationship. Speaking of Mr. Affleck, she told the magazine: “I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”

In person, Mr. Affleck was friendly and funny, but also soft-spoken and vulnerable. At times he seemed anxious and out of sorts, as if waiting for some other shoe to drop.

Despite vowing not to, he did eventually address Ms. Garner’s Vanity Fair profile.

Home would hardly seem like a refuge for Mr. Affleck right now, not while the particulars of his relationship with Ms. Garner are being publicly dissected, and not after Ms. Garner’s Vanity Fair interview, which, for all its affection toward him, depicts him as an absent and enigmatic husband. “I’m still the only person that knows some of his truths,” she said in the article. (She denied that Mr. Affleck had broken up their marriage by trysting with a family nanny.)

Mr. Affleck said at first that he does not publicly discuss his family for the sake of his three children and “because it ends up being in the record somewhere, in the great miasma of junk on the Internet.”

Asked if Ms. Garner had made that impossible by sharing intimate details of their lives, he said: “Jen’s great. She’s a great person. We’re on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that’s the reality that I live in.”

Whatever anyone might conclude from her interview, Mr. Affleck said Ms. Garner and their children plan to visit him during the filming of “Justice League” so they can vacation in Europe as a family.

“She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with,” he said, “so she could say, ‘Look, I already talked about it — I don’t want to do it again.’”

He added: “It’s fine. She’s allowed to talk about it.”

Jennifer Garner Says Ben Affleck Dressing as Batman for Their Son’s Birthday Party Was ‘the Best Dad Moment in History’

People.com shares this adorable quote of Jen talking about Ben at Samuel’s recent birthday party.

Despite their difficult year, Jennifer Garner has no problem giving her ex-husband props for being a great dad.

For their son’s superhero themed birthday party last weekend, Ben Affleck delighted 4-year-old Sam by appearing in costume as Batman from his upcoming film, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”.

“We all dressed up, I dressed up as a ninja and Ben dressed up as Batman for Sam,” Garner explained while promoting her new film Miracles from Heaven on Extra Friday, adding that it “was the best dad moment in history.”

Asked if her son is excited about his dad playing Batman, Garner gushed, “He kind of is losing it, it’s really sweet.”

Jennifer Garner’s Frank Talk About Kids, Men, and Ben Affleck

Jennifer is featured on the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine. In the feature she talks about her her new film, her children, and opens up about her divorce from Ben.

Vanity FairThe silent center of a tabloid hurricane, Jennifer Garner is finally speaking out. With the lead in this month’s “Miracles from Heaven”, she talks about breaking up with Ben Affleck, dealing with the pain, and keeping her kids and career in focus.

In an unassuming Italian restaurant in Santa Monica, I wait for Jennifer Garner. You’ve seen thousands of photographs of her: jeans, sweater, thick chestnut locks swept up in a ponytail—the definition of what it is to be California casual. This native West Virginian’s relaxed, unpretentious style has made her arguably one of the most respected public mothers in America and still a draw at the box office.

Her walk is brisk and to the point as she joins me at a table in the back. She lives up to expectations—flawless skin, no makeup, big smile. This is one of her favorite places; the busboy even asks how the children are. The reason she was a few minutes late: “I didn’t think I was nervous, but then I realized I was at the wrong restaurant.”

It’s been a “year of wine,” as the 43-year-old actress describes it, laughing. Late last June, after their children (Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Sam, 4) were finished with the school year, Garner and her husband, Ben Affleck, announced their plan to divorce one day after their 10th anniversary—an eternity for most Hollywood marriages. A month later, plastered over the tabloids and gossip sites, came reports that Affleck was having an affair with the family nanny, 28-year-old Christine Ouzounian, something his camp adamantly denies. It’s a mother and wife’s nightmare. (After a few inappropriate Instagram moments, the nanny has since dissolved into the background.)

“When I can’t sleep—and I am not someone who typically has that problem, but I really have in the last year—and I need something to switch my brain off, it has been Tina Fey and Amy Poehler,” Garner says. “God bless those girls. I used to think I would never watch television on my phone, but there I am, because I am sleeping next to my daughter.” Garner tells me she and Violet have become temporary roommates. “I’m happy to have her; she’s happy to have me.”

We live in a visual world, where a picture paints a thousand words. Millions of people had grown accustomed to seeing photos of this family to the point where we felt we knew them and their daily routines: getting coffee, going to the farmers’ market, working out, dropping the kids off at school. The combination of the two movie stars and their perfect family was both tabloid gold and aspirational ideal. After all, Garner and Affleck were a glamorous version of normal that almost defied believability. “It was a real marriage,” Garner tells me. “It wasn’t for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work.”

Now to end on what the gossip pages call “nannygate”—it’s all so unsavory and such a cliché. “Let me just tell you something,” Garner says. “We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.” Months later, she’s still assessing the damage. “I have had to have conversations about the meaning of ‘scandal,’ ” she says, with her children.

Jennifer Garner: Ben Affleck and I Treat Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel “Like Real Kids”

There is no spoiling in this household! Celebrity supermom Jennifer Garner told Us Weekly on Monday, May 18, that she and Ben Affleck try to raise their little ones — Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3 — “like real kids.”

“We’re so involved,” Garner, 42, told Us at the launch of her new kids’ crafts line We Made It in Santa Monica, Calif. “I just took a year and a half off of work and I’ve been home. You treat them like real kids. They have boundaries and they have rules and they throw fits.”

In fact, they’re daily occurrences. “Yesterday, we were at a bike store getting their bikes serviced and getting new helmets that fit and… my littlest one [Samuel] saw something he wanted. I had just said, ‘We’re not buying anything,’ and he threw a fit,” she recalled. “The people at the store said to me, ‘Please let us just give this to you’ because he was so unhappy. And I said, ‘I’m sorry that he’s throwing a fit in your store and you’re so sweet to want to give this to him. And thank you for asking me first. But he’s going to have to throw a fit.’ I said no. No is no.”

Leave it to Violet and Seraphina to know about the no. “I said to my girls, ‘What do I mean when I say no?'” Garner told Us. “And they were like, ‘She really means no!’ So you just have to do it. It’s not pretty. I don’t think that I’m always the best at it but I try my best to be consistent and for them to know what they can expect from me.” Continue reading “Jennifer Garner: Ben Affleck and I Treat Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel “Like Real Kids””

Jennifer Garner Is ‘Surrounded by Attitude’ at Home

People.com spoke with Jennifer at the recent Huggies Snug & Dry event about her kids and the work Huggies is doing to help mom’s out there!

As most parents know, kids can be a tough crowd.

“I’m surrounded by attitude,” Jennifer Garner, mom to Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3, with husband Ben Affleck, jokes to PEOPLE at the Huggies Snug & Dry event.

“With the eye-rolling and the drama and the attitude. I just tell them, ‘I didn’t try to order kids with sass. How did I get all these sassy kids?’ ”

Playfulness aside, Garner, 43 — an ambassador for Save the Children — is championing aid for a very real and very serious epidemic in America. “One in three moms struggle to get diapers for their kids,” she explains.

“And studies are showing that it’s not some huge crisis that causes the stressors [for moms]. It’s the pileup of little things. It’s like revving your car engine at full speed while sitting still. Eventually it starts to run out.”

Huggies, whose Snug & Dry diapers are now a better value, donated 2 million diapers — 1.5 million to Baby2Baby, a charity that donates clothes and goods to low-income families, and 500,000 to Save the Children.

Says Garner: “Huggies and Baby2Baby just lift this stressor off moms’ plates and it makes them able to add another meal to the table or to think about something else or provide for their families in another way.”

For Garner, providing for her older girls often means helping out with homework sessions. “My strengths are projects,” says the actress. “I’m the consistent quiet bugger. I bug and I make sure it gets done.”

And so far so good. “[Violet] has needed company more than she’s needed help,” Garner explains. “When she needs help, I’m going to say, ‘Go find Dad!’
